HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, said that the Cabinet approved a draft decision to amend select provisions of decision No. (17) of 2014 establishing the National Committee for Explosives Affairs, which was developed by the Ministry of Interior. These amendments aim to expand the committee’s scope to include developing regulatory frameworks for monitoring dual-use materials’ import, export and production, offering recommendations on relevant licensing applications. This aims to strengthen oversight on dual-use materials’ circulation and reduce potential risks.
The Cabinet also approved recommendations put forward by the Technical Committee for Studying Government Service Fees to exempt people with disabilities, social security recipients, senior citizens and retirees from select government service fees and introduce a series of discounts.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Qatar Fund For Development and the Kingdom of Morocco’s Ministry of Economy and Finance; a draft MoU on archaeological excavations in the State of Qatar between Qatar Museums and Sapienza University of Rome in the Italian Republic, and a draft MoU for a documents and archives cooperation between the National Archives of Qatar and the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Concluding its meeting, the Cabinet reviewed results of a study on implementing community service penalties as an effective alternative to liberty-restricting sanctions, taking the appropriate measures to implement it in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. The Cabinet also reviewed the 19th report of the Permanent Committee for Monitoring Fuel Filling and Storage Stations, taking the appropriate decisions thereon.
