Cabinet holds weekly meeting

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today at the Amiri Diwan.

Following the meeting, HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, said that the Cabinet noted the Shura Council's approval of a draft law on extending the port’s operational concession granted to Qatar Ports Management Company, pursuant to Decree Law No. (17) of 2009.

The Cabinet also highlighted the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau’s implementation of its strategic workforce planning program for government entities. Designed as part of broader efforts to achieve the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, the program centres on three main objectives: standardising workforce planning across government entities, using data analytics to optimise workforce efficiency and implementing evidence-based forecasting for staffing needs over the next five years. 

As part of the session’s proceedings, the Cabinet approved a proposal on the Police Academy’s induction to INTERPOL’s Global Academy; a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a nuclear safety and radiation protection cooperation between the State of Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission; a draft MoU on cyber security between the State of Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency and the State of Kuwait’s National Cyber Security Center; a draft MoU on twinning between the State of Qatar’s Doha Municipality and the Sultanate of Oman’s Muscat Municipality; a draft MoU on law and justice cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt’s ministries of justice; a draft MoU for a technical and vocational education and training cooperation between the State of Qatar and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria; a draft MoU for a labour issues cooperation between the State of Qatar’s Ministry of Labor and the  Socialist Republic of Vietnam’s Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; a draft MoU for a legal cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Rwanda; as well as a supplementary agreement for an agreement between the State of Qatar and the United Nations Children’s Fund.

At the session’s conclusion, the Cabinet reviewed three reports, taking appropriate decisions accordingly. These included the 60th report on the Qatar National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons’ activities from 1 September through to 31 December 2024; a report on the Minister of Environment and Climate Change’s participation in the ministerial meeting of the Middle East Green Initiative, and a report on the Minister of Justice’s participation in the 34th GCC Ministers of Justice Meeting.
