HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today at the Amiri Diwan.
As part of the session’s proceedings, the Cabinet noted the Shura Council's approval of a new draft law on regulating medical research. This draft legislation aims to improve healthcare and medical treatment standards through structured research initiatives and by establishing frameworks to protect participants’ health and safety while enforcing adherence to ethical principles across all medical research.
In addition, the Cabinet approved a draft decision to amend select provisions of decision No. (29) of 2020, which governs the National Counter Terrorism Committee's formation. The Cabinet also approved a draft Cabinet decision to amend certain provisions of Resolution No. (10) of 2007 on establishing a National Civil Aviation Security Committee.
The Cabinet proceeded to approve a draft core contribution agreement between Qatar Fund For Development and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ Central Emergency Response Fund to support the fund's core resources for 2025-2026; a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Post and the State of Kuwait's Ministry of Communications for human resources training, knowledge exchange and postal automation systems; a draft agreement on mutual visa exemption for regular passport-holders between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Rwanda; a draft MoU between the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for a tourism and business events cooperation and a draft executive program spanning 2025-2029 for an environmental protection MoU between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman.
The Cabinet went on to review a study developed following the Shura Council's proposal to regulate and monitor domestic worker recruitment agencies, making decisions accordingly.
At the meeting’s conclusion, the Cabinet reviewed three reports, taking the appropriate decisions thereon. These included the Committee for Regulation of Non-Qatari Real Estate Ownership and Use’s semi-annual report, covering 1 March-1 September 2024; a report on the State of Qatar's participation, headed by HE the Minister of Justice, in the 40th session of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers; as well as a report on the State of Qatar's participation, led by HE the Minister of Public Health, in three World Health Organization meetings: the 40th Programme, Budget and Administration Committee of the Executive Board, the 77th World Health Assembly and the 155th session of the Executive Board.
