HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, said that as part of the session’s proceedings, the Cabinet noted the Shura Council’s approval of a draft law on regulating travel and cargo offices.
The Cabinet went on to grant preliminary approval of a draft Cabinet decision on conducting the 2025 census through streamlined methods based on administrative records for population, housing and establishments. The draft decision comes to fulfil national requirements for efficient and reliable data management and statistical analysis. It also aims to collect, process and publish social, demographic and economic data relevant to the national census for population, housing and establishments.
The Cabinet also granted preliminary approval on a draft decision by the Minister of Commerce and Industry on terms and conditions for practicing commercial activities, not requiring a physical presence, online. The draft decision seeks to establish a comprehensive legal framework for digital commerce, fostering an investor and entrepreneur-friendly environment while safeguarding both merchant and customers’ rights.
From there, the Cabinet took the necessary measures to ratify a cooperation agreement on humanitarian aid between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye.
The meeting also saw the Cabinet approve a draft agreement on economic, commercial and technical cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Burundi, as well as a draft Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation on family policy between the State of Qatar’s Ministry of Social Development and Family and Hungary’s Ministry of Culture and Innovation.
At the session’s conclusion, the Cabinet reviewed six reports, taking the appropriate decisions accordingly. These included a report on creating a national framework on preventive and safety measures for addressing environmental damages and violations; the 2nd technical committee report for reviewing government service fees; the 2024 annual report on the State Cases Department; a report on the Qatar Financial Centre Strategy (2024-2030); a report on HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology’s participation at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly and a report on HE the Minister of Municipality’s participation in Cityscape Global 2024, which focused on cities of the future.
